Connecticut Dressage Association

A Not-for-Profit Organization Promoting Dressage in the Northeast Through Education and Opportunity.

Thank you for joining CDA. As we are focused on our mission statement of "Promoting Dressage through Education and Opportunity", the CDA board and committee members have been very busy coordinating 2004 activities with this goal in mind. You will notice that, beyond our annual CDA recognized competition, we have also increased the number of CDA sponsored schooling competitions to six and we have spread out the location of these schooling competitions to assist our riders in avoiding having to travel long distances to qualify for CDA year-end awards. We have also been able to partner with various facilities that hold schooling competitions and as a result have an additional 20 non-CDA sponsored schooling competitions that can be utilized to qualify for year-end awards.

In the area of clinics, we have planned two CDA run events and are partnering with CDCTA to present a third. In pulling together these competitions and clinics, we were careful to avoid (when possible), the overlapping of our events with other competitions and clinics in the area. This was done to minimize the need for our members to choose between events and to also expand the ability of our members to have access to dressage related events in the area on almost every weekend of the 2004-riding season.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors and advertisers and encourage you to patronize these businesses. Thanks to the generosity of these sponsors and advertisers, we are able subsidize our clinics to keep down the cost of participating and to offer additional prizes at our competitions. Please make it a point to acknowledge the fact that you are aware of their generosity should you have the opportunity to purchase products from these businesses.

In closing, I would like to remind our members that CDA can only provide its members with activities of value to them if we are given the feedback on what is desired. Feel free to contact any board member or me should you have a suggestion on activities you would like pursued for 2005. Feedback is also welcome on any of our 2004 events as without this feedback we will not be able to determine what works well for our members and what needs improvement.

Wishing you all success in whatever goals you have set for yourself in 2004!!

Nancy Blanchard
